Designing Confidence: My First Feature & What’s Next

Opening Note

This fortnight has been an exciting one. I was recently featured on Best Sydney Designers! It’s a small milestone, but it feels like a great step forward in sharing my work more publicly. Recognition like this motivates me to keep experimenting, learning, and building.

Design Trends Spotlight

One trend I’m noticing everywhere: organic, asymmetrical layouts. For years, websites followed a predictable grid. Now, brands are breaking that mould with flowing sections, angled dividers, and unexpected layering. Done well, it feels alive and more human. A reminder that design isn’t just about order, it’s about emotion.

Another one: AI-powered content planning. From blog post generators to smart SEO planners, AI is becoming a genuine partner in creative workflows. The key isn’t letting AI take over. It’s about guiding it with a strong brand voice.

Behind the Design (Experiments)

Even though I’m just starting out, I’ve been playing with example sites to show what’s possible. One of them, called Strength Life, is a premium fitness concept site where I’ve tested bold button animations, universal hover effects, and immersive landing pages.

The point? Design is storytelling. Whether it’s fitness, food, or finance. The way a brand looks and feels sets the stage for how people trust and engage with it.

Practical Tip of the Fortnight

Want a quick win for your website?

Try using a gradient overlay on your hero image that darkens as the user scrolls. It creates a seamless fade into the next section and feels polished. It’s a small touch that makes a big difference in first impressions.

Market Watch

Platforms like Shopify and Squarespace are quietly weaving AI into their core features. Over the next year, expect to see AI tools built right into dashboards, from automated SEO audits to instant copy suggestions. The businesses that embrace this early will gain an edge.

Inspiration Corner

I recently spent time reflecting on Port Douglas and the slower pace up north. There’s something about the calm and simplicity that sparks clarity in design too. Sometimes stepping back, or slowing down, gives you the space to see what really matters in your creative work.

Closing Note

I’ll be sharing more of these digests every fortnight. If you’re thinking about refreshing your brand or website, or just curious about how design and AI are evolving, I’d love to hear from you. No pressure, just a chat.
